Configure Outlook 2000 in CW mode to Repair / Recover email

Outlook 2000 can be installed in any of the three different modes listed as below.

1. Corporate or Workgroup- for use with an Exchange server in MAPI mode
2. Internet Mail Only, for use with Unix and other types of mail servers in IMAP or POP3 mode
3. No E-Mail, which provides Calendaring and Personal Information Manager only

In order to repair .pst files, the Outlook 2000 should be installed in CW mode. However, if the Outlook is not configured to CW mode then the software automatically reconfigures the Outlook to CW mode . As you run the application if the Outlook is not in CW mode, then the application pops up a window informing about the current Outlook mode and to convert it to CW mode as shown in
Figure a.

Click Confirm button to change the emails mode to CW mode and continue with recovery process. As soon as you click Confirm button, a disclaimer pops up. Click I Accept button to continue. The application automatically opens the Outlook window and changes the configuration to CW mode. Close the Outlook window and now you can use the application to recover emails from selected .pst file.

To check your mode, from the Help menu, select About Microsoft Outlook. Your mode is listed just below the version number.
Note: To manually reconfigure Outlook, Click on the Tools menu, and select Options. Under the Mail Delivery tab, click Reconfigure Mail Support. In the E-mail Service Options window, select Corporate or Workgroup, and click Next. Read the warning message and then click Yes. Outlook will close. Restart Outlook. The Windows Installer will start and the required files will be installed consequently configuring the Outlook to CW mode.

Outlook 2002 and later no longer distinguish between Corporate or Workgroup mode and Internet Only mode.
