DD PST Repair software reads damaged / corrupted .pst file scans it and restores all the information in a new .pst file. Once data is restored in a new .pst file, the file can be imported to Microsoft Outlook using "Import and export" option from File menu to use restored data in outlook. Using "Import and Export" wizard saves you from having to manually re-enter the data you need.
Using DD PST Repair is very easy. Its intuitive interface guides you throughout the repair process and restore all your lost / deleted emails.
Follow these steps to repair your damaged /corrupted .pst file.
- Run the application either by double clicking on application icon on the desktop or from Programs list in Start menu. The application main window is displayed as show in Figure a

- Click the button to select a .pst file that has lost / deleted emails. The program scans the drive for .pst files and lists all the .pst files present in the drive as shown in Figure b

- Select a .pst file that needs to be repaired to recover lost / deleted emails and click Next button.
You can also browse for a .pst file by clicking Browse button, if the .pst file you wish to repair is not listed in the list of .pst files.This can be done only if you know where exactly the .pst file is located( The default location of .pst file is drive: \Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.).
As you click Next button, a window to select scan type and destination path is displayed as shown in Figure c.

- Select the destination location where you wish to save your repaired .pst file. Select "Compress repaired file(s)" option to save the repaired .pst file in compressed form. Select the scanning method you wish to perform on the selected .pst file. DD PST Repair software provides two scanning methods.
- Normal Scan
- Smart Scan
By default you can perform Normal Scan on the selected .pst file. Select the destination location where you want to restore your repaired .pst file and click OK button.
The application uses advanced scanning technique to locate emails in the selected .pst file and reconstructs the damaged .pst file to a new .pst file in the selected destination location. The software will not modify the original .pst file during recovery process and it works in a read only mode. Restored .pst file is similar to the original .pst file and is saved in a new folder by name "XXXX RecoveredXX" in specified destination location(If you have selected "Compress repaired file(s)" option, the you can locate the new .pst file in a .zip file in a new folder by name "XXXX RecoveredX").
You can now import the new .pst file to Microsoft Outlook to access your emails as before.
If you find that the mail your are looking for is not found after normal scan, please perform Smart Scan on the .pst file. This will rigorously search selected .pst file for lost / deleted emails. During this search, if the program finds an attachment whose parent information is missing then it will be displayed in a new folder by name "Orphaned Attachment".
